This may be a problem for me tenting my Washingtonia's for approx 10 weeks. Wish me luck because I doubt the beer I bought for the planting party will be enough for these neighbors.
Rubtherock if worst come to worst you can cut all the fronds off and protect it that way. With the temperatures you get down there it will start growing again in late Feb early Mar. How are they doing anyways you haven't posted for some time?
waxmn how are your neighbors? Have you have had similar problems?

Sounds like some of your neighbors may need to be wrapped up too,I suggest without heat!
Or maybe they could have a little accident?

Looks Great!!! Now come on why would anyone have a problem with what you are doing there! I think you will be ok with the neighbors this winter, it's only the washys that will stand out. That one is pretty close to the road though, they'll get over it.
Keep up the nice work the washys do look much better.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I love when people drive by with a confused look as they stare at the glowing palm huts during winter! PRICELESS!!!!!

tell them you are conducting an experiment on green house gasses under the wrap and Al Gore has requested you keep it confidential at least until springtime 2010.

Here's a question for everyone. Do you think he should just cut off all the leaves leaving only the spear? That's what I would do if I lived there. Austin in Littlerock has been doing it that way for years and they come back so fast. It would make life so much easier to wrap it too. Plus his ass bag neighbors most likely wouldn't bitch as much.
Rubtherock as your building your encloser you should have a crazy dangerous look about you when your jerky neighbors drive by and they'll most likely leave you alone

Yea,use an axe for every stage of the building whether you need to or not
You might be far enough south that removing the fronds would work but probably better not to the first year,if you can avoid it.
