Thanks Aaron.
I've got them covered again today...rain and snow!
Barely above freezing at noon
Maybe we should buy ice plants

John, I bet we're 200 feet higher in elevation than you.
Plus 35 miles North too.
Wanna trade?
It snowed until nearly noon, the place was white, all melted by 1 pm.
The air--around me anyway--was blue

Aaron, it looks great and gives me hope for rostratas in my climate zone, but I need to protect them, 'cus we have lots of precipitation, unlike you I guess. But the seeds got to be from some very cold area to make this work in my area

Nice young Rostratas there Aaron... hope they stay alive for you
Henoh's rostrata looks really blue with wide leaves on that lovely rockery
My own favourite in my garden is the "Valle Cillo" Rostrata that has a thin trunk similar to Linearifolia but with large strap leaves.
It was in a poor state when I received it with virtually no roots and had recently flowered
Back in March
End of september
I have been amazed by the growth of the plant and those leaves are currently 28" long at their best.
Oh and heres a disaster story
Bad planting by me left an air lock in the foot of this green Rostrata hence no roots. It also took a battering from the very wet Winter followed by that long cold spell. Now back in a pot , I'm hoping it will root next year

Hi Aaron
Sorry for the long delay. Y. thompsoniana has a serrated leaf edge. Y. rostrata can have a serrated leaf edge. The rostrata form without a serration is called Y. Rostrata v integra. The two rostrata I have are somewhat intermediate......the serration is not pronounced but is there.

Now I'm going to have to check mine.rostrata form without a serration is called Y. Rostrata v integra. The two rostrata I have are somewhat intermediate......the serration is not pronounced but is there.
I don't see any serration but maybe it's because they're only a few years old?
Having said that, I still wouldn't run my hand along my rostrata leaves...ouch.
Similar to a ponytail palm...would shred fingers.
Thanks Tim.

To clarify......most rostrata will have a serrated leaf edge. The form of rostrata without a serrated leaf edge is the variety called 'integra'. Thomposoniana leaves will generally be shorter in length and will have more rigid leaves when compared to rostrata.

Mine too, then.
So mine are Yucca Rostrata "Integra" var Sapphire Skies? (gasp...breathing again).
Even enlarging this pic, there's not a hint of serration:

you may have to take a closer photo of the leaf edge or feel the serrations with your finger.
The serrations are not as pronounced as Yucca aloifolia.
Mario took a nice close up photo showing small serrations......not a rostrata but similar in appearance.
