La Nina effects where you grow palms?

On another thread we got into a discussion about La Nina and what it might mean for this winter. That might affect how we prepare for palm winter protection (what and when). I've been doing a little online reasearch on that during my lunch break.

The first thread I found was from my state's official meteorology source, "mesonet." You folks up north won't like it: it calls for the price of Oklahoma natural gas to go up as you buy it to heat your houses. It does call for generally warmer and drier than normal conditions down here:

In brief, I wish I lived in Texas, but better in OK than Ontario!

The NOAA has done my research for me (hey, that's what I pay taxes for).

coltrane, that usatoday link is still talking about the last la Nina...

This may be more current, but the forecast of a wetter west coast Canada seems to only be true for Vancouver.
They're expecting a huge amount of rain in the next three days...we're inland on the other side of Coast mountains.
Drier than popcorn here.
The interior needs rain...big time.

hope you get that rain.
It has been dry here, too--we were 4" down for the YTD, but it is raining right now. Warm rain, but the winds are shredding Musa leaves. Oh well--they were not long for the world anyways. --Erik

Presume it refers to a repeat of last winter?

Yup, musa and winds don't get along at all.
I gave up and donated my musa to John in Kelowna.
He's in a more sheltered area than my place.

I believe it basically means normal,although what there saying is,could be warmer,could be cooler-
to me that means in the middle.
