Poppies...finally
Great time of year when the Oriental Poppies finally open.
What a masterpiece of mother nature:
If only the camera could do it justice.

Thanks folks.
Not many flowers around here so it's quite a diversion when something sends up a shock of color.

Bill, poppies last for almost a week BUT as soon as they open we get a light rain overnight (every year it seems) that mars the delicate petals.
And damn if it didn't happen again this year.
Erik, suddenly wildflowers are everywhere in the fields but it is later this year since May was so cold and rainy.
The wild lupines are just starting.
Didn't have my camera with me when I went to an appointment this morning.
And the much-hated purple loosestrife (one of the most beautiful plants I've ever seen) is coming up in ditches.
For those who don't know why it's hated, loosestrife invades low/wetlands, destroying them by outperforming all other native (and beneficial) wetland plants.
One day the nurseries will have to stop SELLING it!
