Broken fan on Robusta

Post by Kansas » Mon May 08, 2006 5:42 pm

I have a 2' trunk Robusta. My son broke one of the fans with a basketball. I had to cut off the fan. Will it be alright with palms gettting nutrients from green fans?????

If it's just one fan I'm sure it will be just fine. Did you get those seeds i sent you?

Jay

Speaking of seeds that you sent out, did you send me some r. hystrix seeds?
If so, thanks. I have them soaking right now. They arrived today.

Sorry I meant to answer you also.
With w. robusta it will not make any difference to the growth of the palm.
Other palms like trachycarpus can cause it to develop a thinner trunk.
With your summer heat you get, within no time that palm will be spitting out fronds like crazy.

Again thanks.
I will let you know for sure how I make out. The butia capitata seeds you sent me, 14 out of 15 germinated. Five of them have two trunks growing out of one seed. I have read that butia will do that.
I will post a pic tomorrow for you.

Thanks again.

Yep, got them and they are sowing right now.
I think I will put the Robusta out for the whole summer now. It has been inside, I bring it out during the evening.
Thanks for the help.
