Trachies

They are naturalizing here in North Van. Seedlings are popping up in gardens around my neighbourhood. I wonder where the seeds are coming from?

Wes, the new Johnny Appleseed of Trachys.
Now wouldn't it be cool if the seedlings (eventually) were ID'd as Takil :?

I've had many Trachycarpus fortunei start from seed as volenteers. Some germinate in the winter months (slowly) and have been rock solid through all of the hardships winter has to offer. Obvious this plam is well adapted to our climate.

Cheers, Barrie.

Stereotypes

Most people still believe that about Canada being a cold place. Thankfully we have Palms North and other web sites like this one to educate everyone about climate in different regions of any given Country.
