The local people were complaining about the worst winter they remember, but we had a very good week. Lots of sun and quite warm for more than half of the stay.

I've seen a lot of sabal palmetto and sabal minors that looked ok. A few washingtonias that were all fried and very few trachys that had no problems.

I also saw quite a few very big butia (I think) there were completely fried only a street or two away from others that looked untouched. I will post post pictures when I get home.

This is the area were we stayed:

Finally no more freezing in forecast for the next 14 days. I hope that that's it: spring time from now on

I'm optimistic, too. Had to hustle potted plants indoors a few days ago, but down here at 36 oN latitude (Tulsa, OK) I think we are safe now. 😀

But not us! Feeling bad looking for minus 6 C on April 23rd morning.... Hate it! By the way my magnolia stellata flowers look great after being frozen last Tuesday at minus 7C. Love the hardiness of that Magnolia beauty!

Magnolia stellata are stellar!
Sorry about the cold.
I can remind you that Tulsa, OK, got snow on May 2, 2013. 😯

Right, Erik! It's exactly what I try to say - bloody continental climate!

Glad your Star Magnolia made it through nicely.
So did mine.

Yes, -6C isn't good for the end of April, Igor.
But you seem to be warming up nicely during the day.
We've cooled off again...near zero C overnight, and cool rainy days.
😐

It's not funny anymore - there is badly snowing outside again. Those two stellatas are finishing blooming but the Susan would have been starting soon but I doubt if it will be ever happened. And your stellata is gorgeous, Barb! Thanks for sharing!

Right, continental climate and 1000 m above sea level make the weather crazy for sure. There was minus 2 C this morning but it is plus 22 C now.... 😆
