Once more the adage "careful what you wish for" is true.

Just got one-and-a-half inches of rain in 45 minutes 😯
Lightning, thunder, etc.

Two buildings are flooded with a thin layer of muck, eavestroughs failed, gravel paths are washed out.

Taking a break between shop-vacc'ing the water out.
A beer's next...or two!
😀

That's crappy Barb, we had 3" in about an hour on fathers day. Good thing the ground was moist enough to take it.

Make sure it's two beers on the next break.

Barb,
we feel your pain.
We have spent a bundle lately improving drainage. First it was the french drain system; this week it was new gutters (old ones torn off by wind in May).
I'm almost mad that no rain is in the forecast to test it all out!.(Almost)--Erik

Thanks everybodeeeeeee!

I recall all of you, at various times, saying how much rain you had received.
Not to mention Steve's river flooding.
(And Jim with his 15 inches of rain in a month!)
Amazed that so much could pour down!
I suppose it's our light soils that create flash floods, just can't absorb it quickly enough.

Erik, french drains are tough to do successfully on flat ground.
End up digging halfway to China and then the rock-filled pit (terminus) is 20 feet down.

Had a backhoe in last year to dig a 50-foot sloping ditch.
Attached "Big-O pipe" to the downspout from a big roof and direct it away.
Yesterday the other 6" eavestroughs failed.

Clean-up almost done.
Would've been finished last night, but the beer was just too good 😆
I just got lazy and said to hell with it.

Barb

Dry ground will not absorb as much water as moist ground, its like dropplets on a dry sponge they roll right off.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
