This was worse than it looks in the pic...
Dumped half an inch of rain in 15 minutes.
Very strong winds.
Hope it dissipates before it hits Alberta!

No, Arctic Palm in not in the arctic, however, with the temps here the last few weeks I am becoming confused....I am almost as far south in Canada as possible.
Didn't someone say something about global heating?? When is that happening?

Apparently not everyone gets to share in the phenomenon (a the same time anyway). 😕 If you're the least bit worried, excessive heat and humidity is bound to come your way before summer is out. 😆

Cheers, Barrie.

I can't complain really. Its been pretty sunny here with temps in the mid teens most days. 22 today. long range shows mainly low 20's. I am going to go grab one of the larger t. fortunei's palmetto man found. They like these temps....the little one I planted last year that I thought I killed is growing like crazy....

Environment Canada is forecasting warm to hot weather for BC depending on your location this weekend. Temps are supposed to be in the 30c to 32c (85f - 90f) range for us here and 36c to 40c (97f - 104f) in the interior areas. (Got your misting system working yet Barb?) Enjoy the Canada Day long weekend 😀

Cheers, Barrie.

Misting system! So that's what I forgot to buy... 🙁
It'd melt this weekend anyway.

Bet you had a refreshing dip in the ocean 😀

Squawking/fighting birds woke me up at 4 a.m. today (yawn). Temp was already--or still--25C.
The med fan palm I got from you is loving the heat.

No dip for me. Too busy watering potted plants.

A few shots from a pellet rifle directed at those pesky birds and they soon catch on. It worked for me and the crows don't come around anymore.

Here's a Chamaerops humilis in my garden and a closer shot of the newest growth.
It's standing nearly 5' tall, loves the heat and regular watering at this time.

Finally a pic of my small Chamaerops humilis 'Cerifera'. It should pick up speed once it gets on in size.

Cheers, Barrie.

Wow, Barrie, beautiful!
Is C.humilis always that upright? or is it reaching for sun?
Love all the blue palms!
Barb

PS--no pellet gun, just rocks, ha ha.

There is a fair amount of variation in the Chamaerops genus. Some may have more arching petioles or drooping leaflets. I wish we could get the 'Volcano' sup-species here. It has a great look but it's only available in Europe at this point.

Cheers, Barrie.
