I was up in Boston, Massachusetts today attending a swim meet at MIT University. I live 30 miles (48 km) south of Boston and I had a low temperature of 22F (-5.5C).........all the tender plants near my house have been toasted since late October.
I spotted these Hydrangeas near the side entrance to the swimming pool on Vasser Street. What a great microclimate Boston has!!

Wow, and you live SOUTH of Boston! 😐
That red brick wall may have a lot to do with it too.
Or being closer to the Gulf Stream?
Great pic of those hydrangeas...still blooming. Wow.
The bamboo will look great against that wall too.
Nothing pretty left around here...
😥

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Boston is one of the warmest places in our area........it's got it's own microclimate.
Here's Boston's low temperatures for October 2013......low of 35F in October.

Wow, quite a Min temp spread within a relatively short distance.
You're right...Boston reigns in the mild category 😀

Still above freezing here.... just. 😀 The jet stream is just throwing rain at us. Some of Tims yucca seedlings have rotted 😥

No killer freeze here, either. The nearest airport had a 30 oF (-1 oC) but here in the city itself the plants were all fine.
But, for Wednesday the forecast low is 25 oF (-4 oC) so I'm bringing all potted plants in. 🙁
I like that map Erik! Palms and (probably) gators are only in that one county. What a shock!
Paul,
got to -4 oC in Idabel, largest town in McCurtain County, this morning. The "23 oF" on this map is from the more northerly population Chris Butler showed me.:

P.S. brought in all my potted plants save the big Yucca rostrata, and even that I brough up close toa window, under cover.
