The northern Oregon coast set a record high for the date yesterday, of 63 oF. Manzanita got to 64 oF!
Strong winds, heavy rain as part of the "pineapple express" bringing tropical weather. I'm sure my palms love it, esp. as this is about the time last when when there were record lows.

Oklahoma mild as well. Forecast to set some record high lows this weekend. My smaller potted palms are all outside. May make it to the end of the year. 😯

That's awesome... send some pics! A small El nino sure helps, in fact, that warm pacific air is working it's way across the Country to the East coast. It's supposed to warm up starting this weekend out here. What a contrast, 'so far... over last year. (fingers crossed)

905, I wasn't there; in OK now, where this comes in over the next couple of days.

I found this photo online from the mountain above where my Manzanita palm garden is and it will give you a sense:

Having grown up in Vancouver, I recognized those Oregon raindrops 😆
Incredible amount of rain on the wet coast in the last 3 weeks.

Nice and mild here, hoping for a blanket of snow to ward off a green Christmas.
Hard to sled on grass...

Pretty mild here this season so far. only 2 nights below freezing in dec so far, and three or four with that horrible cold snap in November. Cool, but not cold! I hope it lasts!!!!!

Looks like my potted palms (well, cold-hardy species, not bottles etc.) might be out until the New Year.
Long-term forecasts for January call for colder than normal, but December has been delightful in Oklahoma. Well, for an Oregon boy: cloudy, light rain, temps just above freezing. 😆

Enjoy, guys !!!!
Yeah, that was a wicked cold spell in November, we had it too.
And another very cold blast on its way for us right after Christmas. BRRR.

One cold week in November then one cold week in December...not bad.

And then the days start to get longer...
😆

No complains here either! This has been exceptionally warm December so far. Today's morning temp.: 50F / 10C.
The only downside is we rarely see the sun these days 8)

HA ! Hope you r right Paul 😆 ....for those interrested, i left a Sabal minor in pot outside during 2 weeks with temp. below freezing during the night and maybe 2-3 days above 0c during the day. The soil in the pot were completely frozen ( hard). I bring the palm inside when i came back from vacation, and now it look s great. No dammage at all.
So, 2 weeks under freezing mark ( 2c to -14c) and it looks good 😯 ...

Same here, not much sun at all in fact... We have been very lucky so far, however, we are expecting 'Santabomb' on Christmas day... Could be tons of rain (Oregon style) or a huge dumping of shnay (Quebec style). Won't matter, we leave the lawnmower out as a Christmas tradition around here.

Barb, I picked up a CIDP, 1 gal pot back in Oct from a local nursery here. Rare they are yes, but not sure if I should plant it in the Spring or let it mature indoors....
