Hey, Anyone know when the new USDA Interactive planting zone map will be up and running? Sounds great as it will take into consideration many other criteria (altitude, proximity to cities, bodies of water etc..)
In the meantime, this one is pretty neat:
Pick your state and then zoom into your towns, cities and streets......

Now they just need an updated one for Canada!! 😆

Thats pretty cool. Now somebody just needs to make a map showing where all the "out of zone palms" are growing.

Possibly maybe? It would be cool to see the different species and where they are growing at a glance.

We just have to grow palms and yuccas big enough to be seen on BING...or Google Earth 😆 😆
That is a great resource map, coltrane.
Several years ago, I heard something similar was planned Canada-wide, but it's probably zeroed from budget cuts. 😐

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

I really miss my bamboo somuch It was so beautiful but I had running bamboo and it got way too invasive...I am still pulling out shoots three years later....and it has traveled down the way to neighboring yards...... 🙄

Mike,
great link!
Of course I grumbled when I put in my zip code (74008) and it said I am in zone 6b. That may be true but I don't want to believe it! 😆
If anyone here knows GIS we could make a collective map of palms and protection methods. --Erik
