Finally a forecast without any HIGHs below freezing:
http://www.theweathernetwork.com/fourteenday/caon0696/graph

Spring is still a ways off (it can still drop below -18C here, but it is not likely anymore), but I feel like I can start to remove protection from some of the hardier stuff pretty soon.

March is the toughest month for BLEs here, the frozen roots (or cold soil) combined with a stronger sun can dry leaves very rapidly!

Paul,
I think so. Our long-term has lows at or above freezing!
Our usual last freeze is in April, and last year we had a lot of snow in late March, but I doubt anything too bad.
I'll be watching BLEs carefully. In my garden, all but boxwood are completely dead above the snow-line. Tulsa did not get as cold (only -12 F) so some may recover up there. I'm curious about Photina in particular. --Erik

You're not kidding.
Our recent cold blast left its mark:
Sorry for pic quality, really really bright sun 😀

Boxwood unsheltered area:

next pic, Boxwood sheltered, but being eaten alive by groundcover Cotoneaster...

This Euonymous is always unfazed by cold, think it's called "Emerald and Gold", a beautiful variegation.

And right beside it, this Yucca filamentosa (one of five) thinks it's spring:

The temps finally are on the upswing. All of a sudden we have -1C or 0C highs and -9C lows. Its been very nice.... untill we got a foot of snow.

Heres my "typical" march:

Certainly is.
Yesterday got a sun/windburn, today I'm wearing wool socks.
No sun today. Yuk.

FYI- We got snow yesterday. Something like 5-10cm... Doesn't really feel very spring-like, but it is neat to see the flower blooms emerging from the snow unscathed!

Its the cold up here, Nice an dsunny, only 3C below normal for the highs. But we have 5 days at lows of -15C or so ( 2 or 3 days into it already). It sucks because last year I had iris with flower buds, and lilys half way to flowering...

Thank god im not in regina, Lows in the -18C range, with windchills as high as -27C 😯

I'm in Texas right now. Spring is definitely here. Dogwoods in bloom; iris has replaced daffodil.
I feel like I time-traveled a month in a day's drive. 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Ya, but you'll be laughing in November when the rest of us have had hard frosts!
