Yup...North.

This place at 53N is closer to the Arctic Circle than the Equator.
Not hot in summer, lots of rain so no water restrictions and expensive water metering 😐 .

It's a zone 8.
It's Ireland.
Just look at these palms and other plants!

I'm envious!

Barb, I think Halifax is about 45 N, while the Isles of Scilly in the UK are 49.5 N, and if I remember correctly, close to a zone 10!! The wikipedia page says that there are less than 10 days of "air frost" per year, and the lowest temp ever recorded was -6.4 C!

Cameron, a zone 10? thought the article said 8.
hmmm, interesting.

But I'm at 50N already so can't consider Halifax 😆 😆 or Scilly .

Thanks!

The Scilly Isles are the tiny orange spot near the bottom left:

Barb, if you can't go there, I guess the next place to go would be Ireland! It looks like there's a bit of a zone 10 there too 😆

Scilly is a bit too small, just a dot in the ocean 😕

Our low tonight is 1C
Plants back indoors.

Ireland... 😆

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Even on the west coast of scotland they have Jubeas growing ( mabey not after last winter), and CIDP. Not to mention many UK gardening books, reccomend growing citrus.

The thing is, europe, especialy up that high is EXTREMLY dependant of air/water currents. Heinrich ( SP probably) events happen every thosuand or so years ( or usualy do) and plunge europ einto a "mini ice age", which isnt to far off form most of canadas " normal" winters. Concidering how warm it is there, -30C temps in italy would be enough to call it an ice age LOL. They come on fast, last for a few hundred years, and within a few decades dissapears ( watch the history channel show "ancient weather", probably one of the best shows ive ever watched). This is thought to be the reason neanderthol died off, and H Sapiens survived.

The thing is, to much of a shift in the air and water currents, and their " northerly" zones 7-10, will be more liek iqaluit.

I've seen that History Channel program you refer to, Jesse.
Fascinating!

We're more like Iqaluit this spring.

The original Terdal farm is here:
61° 38' 0" North, 5° 7' 0" East

No palms there, but down the coast in the city of Bergen, Norway, people grow Trachy. There is even someone there with Chameadorea radicalis, but he protects them.

But my farm is at 35.9 oN. Moving to Europe, I could go "north" and end up in zone 10 Andalucia (36.7 oN), where W's horses come from a few generations back 😀

Thanks for the RPS link.

It'd be great to see a pic of the Waggie in Iceland...hope it survived the volcano's heavy ash falls.

Had a terrible hailstorm a couple of hours ago. Some pictures have been taken inside of two layers polyethylene film greenhouse. The hail just holed a polyethylene...

Oh no, Igor, those are huge hailstones!

But on the brighter side, your vegetable plants are ahead of ours 😀
