Well, despite our lovely late summer, our first freeze came this morning-and it was chilly: -4 Celsius (25f).

Here's a picture of my Trachy, Needle and Med. Fan hopefully enjoying the chill!

By the way folks, how the heck do you paste a photo into these messages?

Thanks, and may your fall be long and warm!

Duncan

I'm hoping for one more week before our first freeze!

With the photos, place the http:// address of your photos between tags.

Will give you this,

Steve

Ohhh that sucks. The weather is sooo crazy out there eh? One day it's 30 the next it's minus 30. It was pretty cool heer in southern Ontario last night. Went sown to 4 degrees. I covered my in ground palms and brought in my potted ones. It's also been raining a lot so I was worried that the cool and damp conditions would be harmful. Any snow in your forecast? Or back to warm weather? In our 14 day trend they are calling for some below freezing nights by thanksgiving weekend! But you know the weather network, so we'll see....

Hi Scotty,

Yeah, our weather is wacked. Anything goes at anytime of the year! Our warmest day of the year-officially 33.2c-was a week ago-Sept. 23!? Strangely, last night was our first sub-zero event-very late for Calgary. We'll see how my potted plants hold up to -4 (25f)! They are mostly under my home's eaves-so this keeps the direct frost off of them, and I've left the plants pretty dry in anticipation of a hard freeze.

Good luck with your plants-thanks for the message!

Duncan

... really? That must be very tough to garden like that. I feel ripped off
when we get frost in late November.
I have family that moved back here after 3 years in the Calgary area
and they're relieved to be back on the Pacific coast.

Cheers, Barrie.

Hi Barrie,

I've got lots of buddies from the Pacific coast, here in Calgary-and they all want to go back someday! For me though (other than the year round palms), you guys can have it. I can't do 4-5 months of cold rain. Calgary gets cold, but it gets warm too-and it's always sunny, I love the sun. For my hardy palms hobby-I'd love like Reno, Denver, Albuquerque-places like that.

At any rate, let's not have a repeat of last winter!

Cheers,

Duncan
