Up here, has been relatively the same so far. The lows are above average, and the drops have only gone to average. December was 4C warmer here then average.

At least you have snow down there. I have NONE. 10C yesterday, and we havnt had any precip since beore christmas. That was barley 2 cm. Ill send you cold, if you send me snow.

Even with all the cold air/snow around in December we still averaged 40F...

mostly because it was so warm the first 18 days or so-about +4F High/low for the month.

Last winter was so warm-we averaged at least 40F in every winter month with no sub-zero weather.

On our way again this winter but I have a feeling we won't get there this month as a blocking pattern
may be setting up to keep us in more typical winter cold-better now then in March/April!
Let's get it out of the way-not to much further to go now anyway.

Aaron, Bisbee is in troubles too. Hope all those nice agave and yucca plants as well as cacti will survive this cold blast.

I noticed Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona is cold this week........tonight low of 7F with 3 days in a row of highs in 20's. This is Yucca schottii country.

Big Trachy in the hut is fine, thermocube's keeping it at about 0C.
Two Washies in leaf bags are probably OK.

But worried about y.rostratas as they just have a plastic cover.
And the thermocube that controls THEIR C-9s is in the Washy protection.
I was stupid to put thermocube where it's the warmest!
Had no idea how well those leaf-filled bags would keep it warm.

Quite the test for the rostratas in year 2 outside... 😕

And, yes, Arizona's getting cold nights...

Looks like they are saying to watch out Jan 21-25 here as we
may see the biggest outbreak of Arctic air in a few years-we'll see.....

We currently have a low of -16C forecast for next Tuesday (Jan 22nd). If this pans out it will be the coldest we've seen since January 2011 when we hit -18.5C. Coldest so far this year is -7.6C, last years extreme low was -14C.

We have been so far below our avg of
High 33F
Low 18F

We have been like
High 10/14F
Low -5/2F

And for week after week! Every week they move the 32F day farther in the forcast. 😡

Forecasters have been way wrong everywhere...our forecasted warm up of 48F for Tuesday bombed.
We made it all the way to a High of 24F.
Those guys must be smoking something weird. 😆

Equates to a mini Ice Age for the West.

Another mild winter here. Funny that after I gave up on palms in the ground ("colder-than-the-south-pole"in 2011), we are in store for a 2nd consecutive zone 8 winter. Not that I'm complaining. Not that I haven't given up on moving further south, either.

Cold snap incoming for next week here, max. between -12c to -16c and low of -20c to -26c for a few days. But ill be in Cabo San lucas, Mexico in vacation 😀 . Will take lots of palms pics, ill post some pics when ill come back. Thats the Washingtonia paradise in Baja California 😆
Sometime we have good timing....hope the temp. will get warmer here after vacation....
