Wow it`s about time we got some heat.I registered 28.6c 84 f for a high temp today. I can`t believe snow is expected in many parts of Alberta overnight. Thanks for the Rocky mountains protecting us in B.C. from a winter that doesn`t seem to want to end in the praries. Mid May and snow doesn`t seem to fit?

Jay did you get a chance to see how that old Y. elata is doing in Oroville Wa.? I haven`t been down for a couple of years. Seems the usual hot weather is about two weeks delayed for this time of year.

Well, I have some sad news John. They are gone! Someone must have cut them down!

I`m just kidding. I know that`s a bad joke. 😆

They look pretty good. A little more burn than usual from winter. Overall they are looking good.
Here`s a couple of updated pics from today.

Jay I would have some serious stink eye if someone ever cut them down LOL 😆 . Those seeds are worth Yucca gold since they have lived through winters since 1963. I`ll make a trip down to go and talk to the owners and see if I can`t gather some seeds later this summer. If you haven`t already?

Yeah, I hope it lives forever. 😀 I have never had the chance to ask. I usually don't get to that area in the summer when the seeds are ready.
If you do get some seeds I would love to have some. 🙂

If your still building your cacti garden and need some opuntia pads I have tons. Just let me know.

Thanks for the offer of those cactus pads. I`ll pm you when I need them. I`ll save lots of seeds if I can get permission.

Yup, when the sun shines it's immediately very warm...that is W H E N the sun shines.

I think we're 3 weeks late this year.
My Yucca filamentosa should've flowered by now...not a sign of a flower stem on any of them.

Cold winds and rain can stop any time.

Glad you were kidding, Jay, about the elata.
It looks like it took a beating this winter though.

The elata was a little more beat up than usual. Must have got pretty cold there as we did
this last winter.

Today 32c 90 f tommorow 35c or 92f and the last few days have been upper 80`s to low 90`s f . It`s always nice to hear people complain how hot it is after how cool our spring has been. It`s going to be a long hot summer!

Barrie nice to see you guys on Vancouver Island getting an early blast of heat as well. I can imagine your desert species plants are liking this heat lots? Only made it to 92f here today.

Ya John, quite uncommon for the hot weather this early. July is typically when we pick up a couple of heat waves and nearly always cooler than you guys. A buddy of mine went to California to escape the heat 😆

Cheers, Barrie.
