Everybody OK?

Sounds as though Kelowna got hit harder than Vernon, with 80 per cent of boats damaged at the Marina.

We almost lost our gazebo, but it held.

I'd seen a piece on the news about that. We had steady wind at work all day with a maximum of 32 knots. Much less around home and no problems at all. Apparently the BC mainland was hit harder. Quite unusual to see wind in the summer like that 😯

Cheers, Barrie.

My tree is still standing in my yard. 😆 I was leaving Vernon when the storm rolled in. The wind was blowing my work truck all over the highway. Wasn't fun.

At one point around 6 pm, the mountains west of us were completely obliterated from view ... like a whiteout in winter, but this was beige...a sand/dust storm whipped up by winds.

Winds here in Kelowna 100 to 110 km an hour or 60 to 70 miles an hour. More than a few big pine trees in and around my yard were leaning heavily. Seems we are getting more of these wind storms last couple of years. Here is a local website with time lapse of the storm , look to the right side of the page to watch the video and look at some pictures of the damage.

Quite the video of how quickly the storm moved.
Power was out at my elderly mom's place for 9 hours.

Vancouver got the wind storm also.
Other than my musa basjoos eveything looks ok. Most of my banana leaves are pretty schredded up.

Heard of a few trees falling down around the city.
