My highly experimental collection has grown! ;)

Post by kspalmguy »

First post on here in a while...this has definitely been a productive summer here in southeast Kansas...As of right now, I have in the ground: a Trachy, a Butia, three Washy "filibusta", a Chamaerops, and a Sabal mexicana...all growing very well, with the exception of the Trachy, which was literally eaten to pieces by grasshoppers:/ My other larger trachy was eaten up as well, and wasn't planted. It will go back indoors this winter and go in the ground next spring...About time to think about our protection methods for us northerners;) Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone!

kspalmguy,

Scott from Nebraska here. Don't you just spray your palms once a month with insecticide? I hope your Windmill makes it.

I went out of town for a week in July, and when I came back, the damage was done...I do spray, but it doesn't seem to make much difference with grasshoppers. It's funny, they don't mess with the Sabals or Washies...
