This was protected and came through the winter looking great! pic from March 2012:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/seedscanada/7341915378/" title="IMG-20120311-00545 by seedscanada, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8143/7341 ... 9358_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="IMG-20120311-00545"></a>
but end of may, with regular watering, it shrivelled up, just after this it spear pulled:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/seedscanada/7341927022/" title="Lincoln-20120524-00736 by seedscanada, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8013/7341 ... 5545_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="Lincoln-20120524-00736"></a>
I dug it up and no more rot from where the growth emerges... but I dug deep and discovered that this spot was WAY too dry even with regular watering.. just first sun and type of soil all water was draining away and moisture only sat on the top inch of soil (which is IMO why the plant rotted)... the Sabal is NOT dead, but rather looks terrible:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/seedscanada/7156624971/" title="Lincoln-20120605-00803 by seedscanada, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7233/7156 ... 3e83_z.jpg" width="480" height="640" alt="Lincoln-20120605-00803"></a>
so i potted what was left of it as you see.
Any suggestions to bring it back? Is there any chance at all? Advise please.

Suggestions, please on how to bring it back?
In its place I planted a Yucca thompsoniana, maybe it would appreciate the deep dry soil.

Did you treat it with a copper fungicide? If not, I'd suggest that...
At a certain point it just becomes a waiting game to see if it responds.
Jim?
