Dear fellow cycad enthusiasts,
I have uploaded two new educational resources to the Cycad Society website. The first is an "Expanded Glossary of Cycad Terms," which includes definitions of more than 1,200 cycad-related terms that might be encountered by scientists and collectors alike. There is also an "Illustrated Glossary of Cycad Terms" that goes along with the expanded glossary, which uses cycad-specific photos and drawings to illustrate more than 500 of these terms. You can access both from the following link:
http://www.cycad.org/publications/glossary.htm
The second new resource is an "Etymological Compendium of Cycad Names," which provides the etymology (= meaning) of every valid cycad name. This can be accessed here:
http://www.cycad.org/documents/etymolog ... endium.pdf
Any comments, criticims, or suggestions are welcome.
Enjoy!

Jody,
Wonderful educational resource, and the Cycas photos are nothing short of spectacular.
So many varieties I've never heard of, all stunningly beautiful.
I've often been puzzled by some terms, now I can refer to your literature.
Mr. Williams' "I Am A Cycad" was thought-provoking and poignant, and makes a wonderful addition to your great site.
Congratulations on another fine work!
Barb
PS--Steve (KNN) is away, but when he returns, he'll "flip" to have your resource.

Jody,
You are THE authority, and we Cycad lovers continue to rely on your expertise ever since we discovered your publications.
I'll reference those pictures whenever my cycads appear to again stall.
Thank you!
