Igor, how small is your Y. nana? They're small plants as far as I know.

I guess mine is not nana, then, but I'll wait for some professional opinion from our yucca experts

I do repotting of my yucca seedling these days and once I will have been finished this work I will be posting the pics of all my yucca plants. I have numerous of them. So far the most beautiful to me is Y. angustissima var. avia. It's eye catching blue!
<img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/ ... anguage=EN" alt="Find more about Weather in Almaty, KZ" width="300" />
I was going to repot this Y. neomexicana but planted it in the garden instead:
And here's my tiny Y. glauca var. baileyi. I wanna find out how faster it grows in the ground than potted one:
And last but not least Y. unknown:

Barb, the trunk for sure, but still has the same rather small crown. I guess this species grows this way.

Maybe that thicker trunk with allow more foliage development
And with some age the leaves will likely grow a bit larger too?

I was thinking I finally found true Y. glauca seeds, but I was wrong I guess. When my plant was small the leaves were narrow but now see for yourselves:
I have glauca grown from seeds from mesa garden and it looks totally different, as it should be. Bad luck or maybe sellers really don't know what they sell?

Hi Marceli,
your unknown Yucca is not a typical Y. glauca with those wide leaves. It's likely a Y. arkansana form.

Thanks, Tim! I must rename the tag then
We've had the worst spring ever with tons of rain and there's one yucca which especially doesn't like it: Y. baccata:
The other species seem to like it, tho and grow pretty fast:

Guys, is it safe to put so small yuccas outdoor or should I keep'em in shade first? They grow too slow in containers.

Keep them in the shade first, then slowly move them out in the sun. They will burn if brought from inside to outside sun. After this they can be planted in the sun.marceli wrote:Guys, is it safe to put so small yuccas outdoor or should I keep'em in shade first? They grow too slow in containers.

Could it be Y. glauca var. stricta or leaves are too thick? I'm still wondering what it may be
And the rest of my yuccas:

Ouch! Darn Xavier!
Can you patch the plastic? or add another layer over the whole thing?
Hope that beauty gets some sun to dry it.

I left my yucca plants and some agaves for overwintering inside of my unheated GH. LAst morning it was minus 11C outside but 0 C inside of the GH. It is the Bonus!
<img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/ ... anguage=EN" alt="Find more about Weather in Almaty, KZ" width="300" />
I worry about strong winds too! I hope the protection is OK and works all winter.
I noticed a lot of variation between my Y. constricta x filamentosa x filata 'Big Mama' seedlings.......I hope they turn into interesting hybrids.

60 mph is much better than 30 m/sec.... But it's not about us.... THe North part of Kazakhstan got 30 m per second wind along with snow last week... All settlements were closed... No commuting between them for 2-3 days.

30 m per second
1800 metres a minute, a mile a minute, somehow doesn't seem (to my brain anyway) a strong wind.

Yeah... I had been felt 25-30 m/sec wind many-many years ago. In spring... No snow but sand. In desert. WOW!

Nope... It's worse - I mean wind measurement. Playing the beach volleyball you closing eyes facing the sand, measuring the wind - you keep eyes wide open...

Hi Barb......yes your garden is be a better test location than here for cold hardiness......but we do have loads of winter precipitation which is not their favorite. I don't think either one of us could kill off the Yuccas in the Y. constricta x filamentosa X filata 'big mama'........unless we get to some zone 4b/5a temps......perhaps even colder.
