Nothing to see here..........

Post by hardyjim »

Nainital was let go due to the shade it
casts on the cactus bed & because it would
not be moved if I find a house around here.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... ot3359.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0529_zpscxot3359.jpg"/></a>

I did try trunk cutting it in an effort to cover
it if it was still alive after January but...no go.

Same here, with the Fortunei on the left.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... tbohb9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0536_zpsbatbohb9.jpg"/></a>

2 unprotected S.Lou and the Waggie(uncovered already) behind.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... qw4ba7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0537_zps9sqw4ba7.jpg"/></a>

S.Lou

still alive after winter-their cold hardiness
is amazing even at(especially) this size...

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... p.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... aq9vdp.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0534_zpssmaq9vdp.jpg"/></a>

S.Brazoria still green..

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 0.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... mhult0.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0533_zpsfjmhult0.jpg"/></a>

Little McCurtain unprotected for 3 years- amazing.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... k.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... b0gnsk.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0540_zpsdsb0gnsk.jpg"/></a>

This Fortunei had a cover but no heat or ventilation
it was covered in mold but the spears are not ready
to pull,all these uncovered/unheated palms saw -4F
twice and a normal(which is cold) January.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... d.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... kkwepd.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0527_zps3ikkwepd.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... a.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... cxxpta.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0542_zpslqcxxpta.jpg"/></a>

Back of the cactus enclosure...Variegated Aloifolia has
a suspicious lean to it.....cactus enclosure was not heated
this year and I believe saw 7F...

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... q.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... cw0plq.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0541_zpsrqcw0plq.jpg"/></a>

Amazingly the Trichocereus still looks solid!

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... g.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... lk85cg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0530_zpssmlk85cg.jpg"/></a>

Princeps

Little crunchy but looks good.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... zhqo0y.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0528_zpsxzzhqo0y.jpg"/></a>

T.Tesan

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... l.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... ymjoel.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0526_zps28ymjoel.jpg"/></a>

Last time I uncovered the C.Cooperi it started growing
and has had its new crozier bonked when the cover goes
back on...nice to see this one ready to blast off already.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... e.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... ij2gne.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0539_zpsilij2gne.jpg"/></a>

Little Takil

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... jn0p42.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0538_zps7wjn0p42.jpg"/></a>

Trifoliate orange seems to have made it through...

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... 5.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... pysra5.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0535_zpsltpysra5.jpg"/></a>

Yucca Pallida seems to have made it through easily..

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... l.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... hadevl.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0532_zps7ihadevl.jpg"/></a>

Probably the last time the Washy trunk can be sawed down to
accommodate the small cover.

<a href="http://s297.photobucket.com/user/orbea6 ... z.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm22 ... 9znd2z.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCF0525_zpsfi9znd2z.jpg"/></a>

Thanks for looking!

Jim- You need to buy another house just to have the extra space! Shame so many good ones are so badly injured this year.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks guys...the ones that are dead/damaged
would not be moved so I saw no point in covering them...

Thinking of replacing the larger Nainital and Fortunei
that bit it with the big variegated Aloifolia and my
other larger Aloifolia, easier to protect if needed and
much more hardy...maybe. :D
