Yucca elata bloom

Yucca elata is finally blooming. I started it in year 2000 as a seed😎

Yucca fila x rostrata is a beauty (seed grown from Benny Jensen seed)

Great see finally see some blooms on those! My little elata, blooming second year in a row. And both of my seed grown rostrata's have bloomed.

I will next time I update my blog. It is the same one that did the double bloom last year, did another double bloom this year. Surprising, it's such a small plant.

Here is a Flata? bloom, it come from a yucca you gave me.

Tim great pic of that Y. elata bloom. I have a question for you and Aaron. I have a Y. rigida that bloomed about 6 years ago in a pot. I kept it alive after and didn`t get any new growth until this spring. Do certain Yuccas die after blooming? Will your Y. elata be good to go after this bloom? Thanks

Yuccas don't die after blooming except for Yucca whippeli but technically that's not a Yucca anymore

John, Tim is right they will survive, but yuccas like elata that have such large blooms take time to recover. That's why I was so amazed that my little Y. elata bloomed 2 years in a row, I think this was because it had very small bloom each time and did not use much energy from the plant. But my large one did nothing until the second season after blooming. Sometimes on elata after they bloom it my kill the branch on plant from which it was blooming. I seen this at a cactus nursery here and noticed this down in AZ. I wonder if providing them with the right nutrients a person could prevent this?
