Little more trimming on the Maple in the front yard-
this is the third time that either this tree or the one
on the west side has been tuned up by mother nature-
I dont mind, more sun for the garden-but you have to be careful
what you wish for...just glad she didn't overshoot and take out the house...
anyhow-

oh yea,60mph winds did it this time(last 2 times was lightning)
pretty scary to watch from the second floor-also 1" + rain in
30 minutes or so putting us around 5" for the month so far.

Princeps would be on leaf 4-5 if it hadnt taken a little damage
from moisture(snow) in the protect when it was covered...just
a severed leaf though -you can see in pic.

Great pics of your yard. No damage to your palms and yuccas? Not so good for the other trees down the street.

John

Just the Sunflower plants and a few Banana plants
were blown over a bit +(some potted stuff),I watched/heard that branch
come down-very scary watching 60+mph winds from
the second floor-a little to late to head for the basement at that point.

So tropical looking as always Jim. Someday I'll try those different Trachycarpus as well, when I have the time to get proper protection on them, that is.

Love the princeps, looking really good. And the T. martianus is also interesting, what low would that have seen in the protection?

I have the protection to a point where
I dont even put sensors in all the covers-
mostly cuz after 8 years they are worn out

It was on the same circuit as the T ferns...on @35F/off @ 45F.

I would guess it stayed pretty much in that range too.
Its seen some low 20s F though.

Everything looks great Jim. How do you maintain your Siam Ruby over winter? Mine has been reduced to a twig.

Thats what usually happens to mine, they like it warm and wet.
I usually keep it in the warmest room possible over winter
but I dont really have one of those,70F + seems to do the trick.

I bought mine a little late from B.B's so I could get one with
a little better size than the usual plug offerings..

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
