They'll be forty feet tall this summer, Mike.
My pond needs cleaning too.

I know right, they are amazing plants...Although i have to say my huge fig trees took a hit. They died back to the ground, never ever covered or overwintered them in 13 years, that was crazy

Those reminders of where we live (iffy zones) simply aren't fair.fig trees took a hit. They died back to the ground, never ever covered or overwintered them in 13 years
Maybe they'll bounce back as well as the Musas.

Everything is growing like mad. However, this is the first year the figs have died back to the ground. Never in NJ history I am told. They're coming back up now. No one ever covers them here, so it was a surprise for all of us. I even had castor beans reseed and come back like crazy. Ya' just never knowcanadianplant wrote:Everything looks great, even the bamboo!

I hear ya there mike.... the winter here was just as relatively harsh. My phyllostachys alata made it, so did my crocosmia and hybrid tea roses. And, I had MY fig survive outside too!

Awesome to hear! My Basjoo pups survived, but not the mother plant, despite all the hay that was used. (my neighbor still giving me crap about all the hay in his pool.. :lol) They re growing at their normal rate. I've since planted 2 Ensetes, we shall see what this winter does to those.... Anyone have luck with those?
