Very large Pindo Palm... Burlington, Ontario
Thank-you Rice Road Greenhouses! http://www.millionplants.com/products/hardy-tropicals/
Great quality as usual!
This Pindo Palm stands around 12' perhaps taller. What impressed me the most was the massive trunk appox. 2ft+ in diameter.
Flowering already... Once I study the flower bract more closely, I may be able to determine the type of Butia it really is.
More pics to follow

That is impressive, just like those that I've seen in South Carolina.

Thanks, had some folks on a daily stroll, stop and take pictures beside it today... lol
It's more impressive in person. Protecting it will be a challenge, but then again, this is why we do this...

Thanks Tim, I actually had to get it craned in, off a boom truck. Some tweaking to get it level, but all worth it in the end. See how, on my channel:

Thanks all. As promised a few more pics...
Inflorescence along with a few new flower bracts.
These pindos tends to have seedlings grow from in between the boots as the ripe fruit drops.

Challenging, but no different than my Palmetto or other Pindo. Box method mostly. I may have to get a city permit to build a big structure on my front yard... lol

Hmmm thanks Brooklands, you have me curious for sure.
I know banana Joe has a video of a massive CIDP on his island with some serious girth,
But funny, I'm unaware of any Butia. I would love to see the Vancouver ones of you have pics.
This one measures approx 86" in diameter, it probably is the largest in this country,
Or simply Ontario for sure.
See attached pic, and thanks!

One never knows what is behind some of those mansion walls, but if I had to guess, the biggest non trachy in Canada outside of the aurboretums is likely the one you mentioned, Brian's Cloverdale CIDP, biggest Jubaea are probably Jeff's in Victoria, and your's is likely the biggest Butia. You could probably count the over 12' pinnate palms growing outside in Canadian private gardens on your fingers.
I don't have photos, but I was just at Cedar Rim Nursery east of Vancouver, and they had a dozen or so 8 foot Butia, and the thickest was maybe 12 inches diameter. Nothing even closed to your 86" circ. I have seen some big ones down in Oregon, and again, taller, but no where near the mass. You have a real beauty there.
