Looking for one accepting southern household (humor)

Post by canadianplant »

One 28 year old hard working Canadian is looking for caring, southern people to open up their arms and home to an unfortunate northerner. Will work for food, and will take care of your garden. I am less messy then a dog, and have better table side manners. Reason? I was born in the wrong place:

SUMMARY
Heavy snow and blowing snow. A large low pressure system originating from Texas is tracking towards Lake Superior this morning. Varying amounts of snow, mostly in the 5 to 10 cm range, have already fallen in most areas across over northwestern and North Central Ontario. Additional amounts of 5 to locally 10 cm are expected today bringing total amounts of 15 cm or more. In addition, wind gusts to 50 km/h will result in blowing snow. Travelling conditions will be rather hazardous with untreated surfaces snow covered and slippery. Visibilities will be reduced significantly in local blowing snow. The snow is forecast to begin to gradually taper off later today as the low pressure system pulls away into Quebec.
This is already after a foot and a half last night, on top of 80km winds which made 3 foot drifts.........

I just got rid of a daughter...

Your snow will melt...I promise.
We're below seasonal, really ticked off.
But suddenly not so ticked upon seeing your photos, Jesse.

This "spring" has been ridiculous!

I know it won't help you to know-but- here the Tulips have not even opened yet,
they were finished blooming last year by April 1 as I recall.....that 12F at your place(now) is
a sobering reminder of the effect of a thick snow-pack can have on temps!

Good point.
If (when) the sun actually shines, very little warm up until it shines on good ole dark soil, not snow.

The Weather Channel repeated Thunder Bay's snow and wind videos this morning, Jesse.
Very depressing.
If it's any consolation, we expect -2C tonight.

I agree Jim. I do think this drop was namely due to the direction of the low, blowing in north east winds. THis time last year even I had somethings popping up, and some stores were selling plants. Instead of the slow pace ive done, its going to be crazy this year to get everything in.

The snow is now half gone, due to 6C and full sun today.

Barb, the good thing is, since its been snow, sun, snow, sun, the ground is fairly thawed (not as much as it should be mind you). Weve just been stuck in a damn weird pattern.

Well apparently the temp swing is here! In a few days i shoudl be right where I should be temp wise - and.... because its been so slow, spending 3 straight days in the back catching up with cleanup, not even planting :(

A for the sticker, I think you go to weather underground, find your city and somewhere on the page they offer a sticker, you just copy and paste the url IIR.

Looks like(if the forecast is right)one more cold snap this week and then we get more late April/early May like temps.

Hope it is the same up there, after the earliest warmest spring ever last year-it may finally get started in earnest later this week.

Keith, here's the sticker link: http://www.wunderground.com/stickers/

Yup...weather's finally improving...one more cold night here and I'll be shaving my legs for wearing shorts. :evil4:
Looks like all of North America will finally be out of the cold.

The last two Aprils have been awful, but not as bad as this third one where everyone seemed affected.

I am so very tired of moving plants in and out.
Seems I forget at least one. :?

Jesse, you'll probably spend the first day or two running around in circles.

Well, we are low on water belive it or not! Over the last 10 or 15 years we have had less then half of our average snowfall. except last year, the lake shore was down 15- 20 feet. Hopefully its one of those 10 year dry cycles.....
