Inside the Greenhouse

Post by Jeff_Ajax »

Ok, a couple quick shots of whats inside the greenhouse. I need to work on watering the plants more though.

Inside the greenhouse has "Blood Banana", a couple big ones plus assorted smaller ones. 4 Pygmy Date Palms, 2 Canary Island Date Palms, 1 Brugmansia, 5 Hibiscus, 1 Sago Palm, assorted Dracena, Castor Plants, Elephant Ear, multiples of 3 different Taro's, Basil, Mint, Scotch Bonnet Pepper, 2 young Musa's and a couple other plants.

I don't have enough room to walk and water the plants at the back and that's why I'm building a small little extension next week. I may add a couple overhead lights as well.

and the majority of plants, lots in the back you can't see.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Barb,

It's a 10x8 with 10' walls plus the extra height for the roof which I needed to clear the Banana's I decided not to cut back. I'll enjoy it a little more when I don't have to fight my way through all the palms lol. Also just about taken care of my insect issue as well.

It stays pretty warm inside even with the double doors not totally sealed up. I have a layer of vapour barrier on the outside plus a second layer on the inside which keeps the inside one warm to the touch. The roof is just a single layer but as heat rises , it doesn't get too cold up there either.

If my sister doesn't let me build a permanent one at her place next year, this one will be going back up again with some minor tweaks I'm sure.
