Neem Oil when watering?

Post by sashaeffer »

Has anyone used Neem oil when watering as a systemic to control bugs? thought I read an article about it but not sure. Tried GOOGLE search, and mostly talked about using it as a spray, but don't want the oily mess on the surface of furniture etc.

Just wondering if anyone has done this and if it had any negative effect on the plant.

My first winter with a lot of palms indoors last year I didn't have any real issues with bugs other than fungus gnats. Humidity in the house is always at 50% or above because of the use of the heat pump so I think that helps keeping spider mites etc in control. I also sprayed all the plants once a month with a indoor/outdoor insecticide which I'm sure helped but would prefer not to use that inside the house even though it's made to do that.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,
Even a tiny amount of overspray makes a sticky mess on the floor.
I think nurseries use it to shine leaves.

Threw mine away.

Scott I ordered some of this product just for the fact I`m sick of using chemical systemic prevention. IMO pay a little more and have a green alternative. http://organicinsecticide.info/

Thanks for the great link. It does look like Neem oil can be used in watering then.
