Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks guys
...as though they're hardy here, ha ha!
This one does well indoors, as full sun (even for a few hours in the morning) sunburns the fronds very badly.

Thanks Jesse
Between your/Paul's/Tim's squirrels and rabbits, I don't know how you get ONE seed to pop...ever.
You'll love the blue fronds of Dioon edule.
Have you tried laying a mesh screen over the seedling pots to prevent seed losses?
Cycad seeds are pretty expensive.

For some reason I never thought about mesh. I just surrounded the last zamia seed with pots, and its been fine.... I will remember mesh for next year!

Easy to pick up a few feet of plastic mesh for screen doors at your local hardware/door/window company.
Comes in 12-foot rolls, I think.
When I had a lot of seedlings, I'd cut it into a five-foot long strip, wide enough for seedling pot width, and then a rock on the first--and last--pot keeps mesh from blowing away/lifting up in wind.
But you'd need wire mesh if you have lots of rabbits, etc.
