Is that one of those critters that loses their tail to get away quicker?

No... it is just like that because of other reasons. This sp. does not lose it's tail unless something bites it off, wich may have happen to this one?

The only thing I brought back was some agava seeds.

I was just thinking today how nice it would have been if I brought back some starts from my place. I was going to bring back some engelmann prickly-pear (at the least), but even though I have been there twice and forget the fact that they are everywhere I made it home with just over zero of them.

Heck, Aaron, I would've forgotten just having come face to face with a Gila (even a small one).

Do you know what kind of agave you got seeds from?
Or a picture of the parent plant?

Sorry for the late responce.
I do Barb. It is agave palmeri. They are very cool agave, they can grow about 4ft tall and have a nice shape.
The agave in this pic is one.

I hope they are cold hardy.

That palmeri is a stunner, Aaron.
Let us know how the seeds are coming along...don't think I've seen anyone post agave germination/seedling pics here.
