Didn't get them.
Hope they send them back to Dean, versus confiscating them.

If its a triangle palm you need why not pick one up at Rona. The Rona in Winnipeg has small ones(about a foot tall) for $7 and larger ones( around 4 feet tall ) for $29. I dont know if the stores in your area have the same suppliers.. but its worth looking. Just in case your seeds dont arrive.
Last week I did a tour of all the nurseries in town plus a couple of big box stores...except RONA 😐
I'll head there first thing tomorrow.
Thanks so much for the tip! 😀

Hey Barb,
When did he send the seeds to you? They are probably still in the mail. Aaron (desertzone) sent me some stuff and it was about three weeks before they arrived from Idaho. I'm also still waiting for some software from the US and the shipping said 6 - 10 days but it has been 16 days now.
Regards,
Jay
Jay and turtile:
Oh! UK 3 days? 2 to 3 weeks to Canada AIRMAIL?
Must've been a glider...had to wait for wind. 😆
I think it's been 2 weeks.
Dean declared "seeds" on the mailer, maybe they're still en route.
OK thanks will keep waiting...
Off to RONA asap, cedardave, maybe the Winnipeg RONA can send me one.
I can only imagine what will arrive if everything's marked 8-inch Tropical, ha ha.

cedardave: Went to RONA Vernon (hoping to get a Triangle Palm), and was STUNNED to discover they had absolutely NO indoor plants any more! DARN! The Kelowna RONA (35 miles south) has a huge indoor plant section stocked year-round, but my ole car wouldn't make it there and back. I'm still drooling thinking there's a Triangle sitting in Winnipeg!
Headed off to Home Depot again and picked up two plants (couldn't resist).
Can anybody ID this palm? Is the other plant a Bird of Paradise? Everything was labelled 6.5" tropical, instead of a proper name. Frustrating.

I can't help with IDing the palm.
My latest mail experiences from the US have been poor. On Friday I received a package from Florida that was mailed September 28th. The only reason that I got it this quickly is that for some unknown reason it missed going through Canada Customs and I didn't have to pay GST. I am still waiting for a parcel that was mailed Sept. 25th from California. The last parcel that I got spent 5 business days in the Ontario International sorting depot.
I'm guessing that the Canadian purchases from American businesses has increased significantly since the dollars reached par. I have found a lot of bargains in the states over the past 6 months as their economy is in decline and ours is booming.
Good luck in getting your parcel.
Allen
You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Barb, That is a Triangle Palm 😀
the other looks like a Strelitzia reginae

Yabbadabbadooooooooo.
And it was the ONLY one at Home Depot.
Life is good.
Thank you Steve!
Barb

Sorry Allen I was so excited (Triangle Palm) I forgot to reply to yours.
I don't think we can oversimplify by saying the US economy is in decline; if we had their "security" costs, Canada'd be down the proverbial tube. I doubt it has anything to do with mortgages in the big scheme of things.
But what do I know? 😉
Having said that, though, the rarepalmseed sponsor gave a non-updated Oct.2 exchange rate of 97 cents Cdn a couple of days ago, when the business report that day indicated it was $1.01 Cdn.
Great you got it that fast, and with no GST...
5 days in a sorting facility? that's bizarre, hope it wasn't a LIVE plant.
Sounds like Canada's gone back to horse 'n buggy ...

That sounds about right. The Bankers need their pound of flesh. A 4% gross profit margin on money seems pretty reasonable. 🙂
I got a 9 piece set of chromed cast brass bathroom accessories(dolphin style) GST free and at about 1/2 of the best price that I could get for something similar here. The piece that I am waiting for is the dolphin faucet set and there is no problem with waiting.

I can all but 100% agree w/ Steve, that IS in deed a Triangle.
Just remember, in the Winter, you could just water it 1 time a month and be fine, but as soon as it starts warming up, get that thing outside and water water water!!! In the Summer, mine LOVE wet feet.
Didn't get them.

Barb ... Agriculture Canada will inform you of any rejection (by mail) and the reasons for the rejection. Well they certainly used to, unless there's been a policy change I'm unaware of.
Cheers, Barrie.
