I didn't pay import fees either.
Customs probably figured out quickly that stuff isn't available here.

There was tax though, only GST in those days...now likely 12% HST (and Ontario's is 13%)

15 bucks isnt that bad of a price, concidering the price of other things ( to me it seems like everything is 12-30 bucks mabey even out all the prices and put them into brackets according to a price range??) 25 bucks for a canna..... ive seen them way cheeper.

They have a huge selection of plants though 😯

So has a nursery been selected yet?

You choose...

Plant Delights has been selected as the nursery 😀
I'm going to place the order on March 31st, so I'll need to have received everyone's money by March 20th.

If you're interested, please respond to the thread, or PM me!

Cameron.

Getting my list ready...they have so many species that I've wanted for ages...

Here's their online catalogue (alphabetical listings) 60+ pages... :bounce:
http://www.plantdelights.com/searchprods.asp

Thanks a bunch for organizing this, Cameron. :sunny:

Please advise whether one phyto will be issued per species, or per person order? or hopefully one phyto for the entire group order?

Barb

EDIT: catalogue is 77 pages, and not listed alphabetically.

Im pretty sure, the certificate is per order. Whether that order is 50 boxes, or 1. CITIES ( for animals), is different, and you need one for every species ( if i remember right, its been a while since ive had to deal with it). The best thing is to make sure its once order, not concidered multiple. This save a lot of pain ( except for cameron LOL)

So far i have my eyes on zingiber miooga, and sabal mcurtain

I think all of us south of the border are interested in what you folks will order.

Did any of you call Phil at Jungle Music to ask if he would make an exception to his "no international shipping" rule?

I have been buying palms from him as he ships in 5 gallon sizes, which I prefer to the band size. For the cost and hassle, I like to get a big palm. I also like that I deal directly with him, whether by email or telephone. And he calls to make sure his babies are doing well--it makes it personal. --Erik

The only problem I can see with that, is pakages are shipped by weight. A box of 5 gallon palms woudl weigh what, 100 pounds?? And box sizxe as well. That could run 100+ bucks Just for shipping.

I will have to say, ive drooled on Junglemusics home page for a while now LOL

Yes we've contacted Phil @ Jungle Music.
He has no experience with phytosanitary certs and most of his prices start at $30.00.

Plant Delights Nursery has some outstanding products too, especially like the varieties of Yucca, which Phil doesn't stock.

I'm glad you tried.
Phil does internal US phyto certs, but the "passports" are another thing altogether. He is really a hobbyist (semi-retired physician) who is crazy about palms. PDN is a big business by comparison.

It sucks its easier to buy from bog companies. Id rather support the mom and pop stores..

PDN is small by comparison with the really big nurseries, like my local Tri B.
