Now thats a welcome mat!!!
I see you have several Majestys. How do you find them?
Thanks
Local nurseries and Lowes and walmarts carry these just about all the time.
These have grown quite well and are between 6 to 7ft tall.
We get them here too but i have never had any luck with them...but i keep buying them cause they are cheap. I have one right now that is 7 feet and so far so good!!
I just give them as much sunlight as possible during the winter, mist the foliage daily, keep spidermites down, seems to work for me.
I know a lot of people hate the majesty. I kinda understand them but at the same time if you know how to take car of them and what they need they are a very fast growing and beautiful palm. I would like to find one with a true trunk!
Talk to you later
Well I think they are a pretty palm, and very fast growing too!
I have one in my greenhouse planted in the ground,I hope someday it will start to trunk befor it gets to big and have to remove it!
Any idea how long it takes them to trunk? I have never seen any trunking other than on the net. I have been all over the tropics and can't say I have seen that!
I have no idea, but I hope it does before it reaches 10ft,for thats the hieght of my greenhouse where it is planted in the ground!!!LOL
A 10 foot greenhouse would be so nice! I have no greenhouse. I am going to attempt to make one this fall. That should be interesting!
Do you have pics of your greenhouse? 8)
That is one gorgeous front porch arrangement!
Man, that's nice.
On the right, is that a banana or a bird of paradise?
Where's Spike? ha ha.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Have a big cage in front of the sunroom for spike when he's outside, right under the 30ft yellow groove bamboo, where he can scare the little sparroes around with a loud scream!!!!
Yes those are bird a paradise. Here's 9 ft sunroom,

Here's the front of the greenhouse that is between the house and unattached garage, which is 16ft by 28 ft .[/img]
Lemme tell you all something, He is doing something right cause everything here Kansas is still brown and cold burned, but that yard is a flush and beautiful as a tropical yard in southern Florida.
GREAT JOB!!
I come back and look at your ( and Barb's) pics once a day. It helps me deal with the lack of growth here in Edmonton. Even the grass hasn't turned fully green yet.
Thank you for my daily fix.
Allen
You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
You most certainly ARE doing something right...everything!
Gorgeous patio setting, love the blue chairs!
I can almost feel the humidity around those plants.
Super bananas too, how old are they?
And if I get another Bird of Paradise...will you give me some tips?
I killed mine after having it 5 years; still don't know what I did wrong.
Spike's one lucky bird to live there!
Barb
PS--Allen, thanks, that was nice of you. Edmonton's temps have been exceeding ours lately, while
we'll cool off again next week 🙁 Hang in there.
