Steve,
This is probably impossible but looks like palm is growing from two points ... the normal terminal point, and also from its oldest boot? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong.

Meanwhile "the thing" seems to be encircling the palm.
Maybe it's some peculiar mutation...

Watching this is going to be cool 8)

😆 😆 😆 😆 Steve, I have NO IDEA what that is 😆 😆 😆 That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen. None of my others have that.
However it's brothers & sisters are BOOMING with growth after I brought the community pot inside and kept warm & wet.

No noticeable decline in Triangle seedling...should be a good sign.

Well Steve, I take back what I said about mine not doing that. I DO have one that I found today. Sorry for the blurry pic, but you can see, it has two trees growing from one seed....

And here is the community pot it is growing in....

Wes,
Are these even Triangles? 😆 😆

Some other Dypsis have clumping habits, maybe these seeds were mislabeled somewhere along the way?

However, it would be nice to have a clumping Triangle 8)

These were sent to me from Chumley. I think he has a tree that produced them in his own yard.
They are some of the best seedlings I have ever had.

That is AWSOME Steve. You might thank Mr. Chumley for that cool deal. It was his seeds that I gave you.
But that is soooo cool.

Those seedlings actually look more like Dypsis cabadae (cabada) than D. decaryi(triangle)... or possibly some type of hybrid. I have never seen a clumping triangle.

I hope your right Jody. I like the looks of the younger Triangle, but I actually do not like the mature Triangle.
I do like the Dypsis cabadae Palm thou. I thought Robert told me they were Triangle, but again, maybe he has this as a Hybrid or something.

I'm guessing this is a hybrid of some sort? a little slower growing, but seems to be healthy.

Wonder if it's common to have so much...well...clumping versus additional vertical growth.

Steve, are you sure you didn't plant TWO seeds 😆 😆 😆
Just kidding.
It'll be great to have this guy ID'd in a year or two.
