Barb it`s all new to me to. I`m wondering what the duration of viablity of the female flower is. There must be a time limit on Trachy fertility? Mine are branching out now. I`m thinking yours will be doing the same within the next week. Another garage I hope not 😆 . Got to sell a lot of the bigger palms to make room for the young uns.

Ya, there's gotta be a time limit.
Otherwise why would women be checking their calendars when they want to get preggie? 😆
Somebody must know.

make room for the young uns.

And from all this pollen talk, there could be a lot of young uns.

Did you hear Vernon's low tonight is 3C?
Sounds like the rest of May will be mostly at or below normal temps.
Only 4 months until the palm hut goes up again. 👿 👿

I feel cheated of spring this year.

Hey John, this springerlink techie summary says Trachy pollen viability is anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks.

So do we increase relative humidity and feed it some sugar beforehand?
Or just a rum and coke? 😆 😆

Lol 😆 Get them feelin good. The male pollen is viable for two weeks. I wonder how long the female flower is viable to accept the pollen to produce seed?

Hey John, from your May 10th pic, it looks like the flowers are hanging down (mostly).
So maybe it's a male?

We'll need to keep taking pics and comparing from, say, a horizontal picture angle?

Sounds like pollen is viable up to about 2 weeks from the few internet sites I read.
