I hope my palm is a female that is flowering this year. I planted it in March 2008 along with two other 15 gal. Trachy`s
Although none of my other Trachy`s are flowering this year. If it`s a female inflorescence I would like to hand pollinate it with by going to Vancouver or someone from our site that has male Trachy pollen. I will know soon what is happening with the Trachy inflorescence. Anybody want to guess as to what I`ll end up with?

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

John,
Congrats...won't guess but it'll be great to see that inflorescence.
I think some of the folks on the Coast would know.
Barrie had some photos a couple of years ago of his inflorescence.

Exciting!
I hope my big ole' Trachy does that soon.
But it may be in menopause after 35 years 😆 😆

Keep us updated please.
Barb

PS--about bloody time the weather has gotten warm, huh? 😉
Now if only hockey on TV would end, LOL.

We had 19, gorgeous, but I don't get excited about ONE day.
Wearing a light jacket today AGAIN. 👿

Oh boy, we sound like dinosaurs when we say "I remember how nice the weather was before the climate changed" :toothy1: 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

Make sure the hockey games don't keep you from taking a new pic of that Trachy as the flower comes on.

Excellent! Very nice gardens you have there. Such a great time of year. I just noticed out back that two of my Cordylaine Australis are flowering for the first time ever. Can't wait to see them. I'll post pics.

Here is an update on my T.fortunei flowering. It looks to be a female. The first pic is a close up of one of the flower spathes. Interesting that the bottom of it is yellow. Maybe a self seeder? None of the other Seed pods have this trait. Maybe just wishfull thinking on my part?

Wonderful that you've got 7 seed spathes.
You're way ahead of mine for development...so mine must be a male 😆 😆 😆

Kidding, guys!

Lol some adolescent palm tree humor. 😆 Barb you could probably check the inside of your spathes by pulling the covering back like banana peel and putting it back over after. I did this with mine a few days ago and had no damage to the covering. It`s like Christmas can`t wait to see what`s in the present. 😀

Anybody want to guess as to what I`ll end up with?

Plans for yet another garage.

What if my flower spathe isn't "ready" when we receive pollen?
This is all kinda new to me.
