Pretty sure its a male, base on flowers, but not totally sure

Figs do great in NJ actually. The Italians brought them all over from Italy to the Philly and NJ region during the huge immigration wave in 20th century. In fact, it is hard to find an Italian house (even in Philly proper) without a fig tree. It's the big joke out here.

I have had mine in the ground for about nine years now. They require no care, just trimming back every week or so in the summer because they grow too big! I have more figs than I know what to do with by August. Sadly, I throw so many away. I love them too! I love the smell of a warm fig leaf on a summer morning while I sit under it and drink my coffee...life is good!!! I root a lot of the fig trees for friends and neighbors.
