Your palms are very nice. I wish that I could grow them here without winter protection.

The park is excellent. Where in South Carolina is it?

Allen

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Great pics Laaz. I planted a small P. theophrastii this year (yours are considerably larger) and it's managed some cold temps (19.5f - 20.5f) and looks fine. If I'm ever through SC I'll look you up.

Cheers, Barrie.

Who works for Time Warner Cable???
I work for Cox Communications. If it is you Laaz, what do you do there. I supervise all the Contractor work in the Construction dept. When a new housing development goes in, I supervise the guys digging the trenches and attaching the lines to the poles. I spent 10 year in the Construction dept. and loved it, but I am getting too old to hump poles 😆 . I also travel a lot to supervise storm breaks: Grand Forks, North Dakota (Flood), Northern Oklahoma (Ice), Western Missouri (snow), Pensacola, Florida (Hurricane Ivan) and when the streets become passable, Eastern Colorado & Western Kansas next week maybe.

Kansas I work for Time Warner. I'm a service tech for the online / phone side of things. Not many poles to clime here, almost everything is underground... Great pay & benefits. I get a lot of Palms while I'm out in the field as well as loads of seed.

Sweet Laaz!!! Thanks for sharing the pics. I have a P. theophrastii coming next week. What are your thoughts about P. theophrastii compared to the other Dates?

Cali from my experience P. theophrastii is probably the most cold hardy of the date palms. We don't get very cold here, but the first year they were in the ground we had a night @ 17 F and not a bit of burn. The Silver had some burn & the Cali fans had major burn.

I have 10 Senegal's I'm going to put in the ground in the spring.

SCREW THAT!!! 😆 😆 You have to have A LOT more brains to do what you do thatn what I do. I really really look up to you catv phone techs as you have a lot to know and alot to remember and a lot of in home stuff.
I just couldn't deal with the people side of things after being in the homes for about 4-5 years. I wanted to be on the side where I had little to no customer contact, but still outside and staying in shape.
A dream come true would be to work at what I do now, but in S.C. and walking thru fields of wild minors and such.

I really like what I do. Like I said great money great job & my total bill every month for Cable / Broadband / Phone service is $20. Yes they make us pay $20 for the phone, but it is unlimited long distance to the USA & Canada.

We have wild stands of S. Minor, S. Palmettos, Needle & Saw Palmettos. Also many Yucca's and different cactus... We usually only have 3-5 nights a year where we go below freezing. Today it is almost 80 F...

Hey Wes. Yes I would be very interested in trading some seed. Do you want Sabal Palmetto or Sabal Minor ? Or both ?
