44F at 7:30pm? Your too cold! We had our hotest day of the year today at 83F and muggy (upper 60's dewpoint). I was sweating like a pig when I was cutting the grass today.

Ya...the weather here in the spring is very crazy. We have had temps three times in the low 90's and just when I think it is going to stay we get freezing temps, wind and frost. But everything pulls through, most everything. 😆

I would LOVE baccata pollen.......that's one species of Yucca which pollen is rare for east coast gardeners!! My 12 year old baccata looks like a seedling still! I need to try it in something other than a sand/peastone bed. Perhaps they need a finer grade soil such as silt/clay??

How about a Yucca ('constricta x filamentosa' x 'filamentosa x elata') x baccata?

Barb, yes those Delospermas do look like aster flowers except asters bloom in September/October around here.

Tim what is the best way to send it? Do I put it in a plastic bag? Or just inside the envelope?

place pollen in a small plastic sandwich baggie. Do you want me to send you some pollen too? It would be nice to get baccata as the pollen donor and seed producer! When do you think your baccata will start to bloom (be able to pollenate)?

Yes! Baccata is an excellent Yucca, should add much cold hardiness in crosses!

Tim- I am getting some Y. pallida pollen soon (from a fellow near Toronto), I'll send some your way if it arrives in time.

Tim they are blooming right now (some) baccata is the only open yucca flowers I have right now. I will mail it off in the morning.
