Hey Jim, here are those pictures of those palms for you. The Latisectus are still fairly small living in 3 gal pots. I emailed my friend to see where the seeds came from and when for the other one. I'll let you know what I find out.

I have a few of each of these. I got them from Marc at http://www.hardytropicals.com/palms.html Very nice quality palms.

Hey Paul, the baby is not a sucker it's just where the seed split and grew two palms. Bonus! In 5 years it should look really interesting. I hope they bend away from each other and form two nice heads at different heights.

Thanks for the link too.

Hey Bill, after looking at the first palms again,I would say for sure they are both Martianus. It's easy to get the seeds confused as the are the only two Trachys seeds that are not reniform.
Probably the only way to tell if the other is Takil is to wait until you get 3-4' of trunk,if the fiber stays like it is,more than likely it's Takil,if it starts to hang down more like your Fortunei it's Naini Tal

Hey Bill,I just found this old pic of a Martianus and Latisectus, the Martianus is the one right in the middle(Nova to the left)and the Latisectus is to the right with the FAT leaves.

Bill nice to see your smaller Trachy`s doing well. The T. latisectus has been a slow grower for me vs. T. Nainital. Maybe they will speed up as they get older.

Yea,Martianus,Latisectus,Nanus and Manipur are all very slow growing when small,(add Takil to that if you can find the real deal!)one thing that helps is to give them part or morning sun(works well with seedling Trachys too)this will "speed" up their growth.
