Hi Stalewiak, welcome to Palms North!

Hello. This is my first post in the forum. I am of Polish and I wonder what you have greatest frost? . You can order palm trees overwintered in the ground is still need to be heated heating cable. Frosts can be up to - 30: /
What was the average temperature in the winter?

The coldest my area gets is -26C but fortunately that doesn't happen often.

Look forward to seeing photos of your plants.

Barb

John, ditto to what you said! :angry7:
We should all be planting as many trees (not just palms 😉 ) as our property size allows.

Mike great idea with the Christmas palm tree. We do the same. Why kill a growing tree just for two weeks of enjoyment and then throw it away. We need to preserve all the trees we have left on this planet. Great looking palm.

John

Thanks John. We were also going for a new look this year. It goes really well actually witht eh Victorian themed parlor and fireplace....kinda' English Imperialism period/India/ Mid-east/ Africa...etc....LOl

I went hiking up in the Pine Barrens of Central NJ today, gorgeous clear day, not a cloud in the sky......warm sun, chilly wind...Nothing but Pines as far as the eye can see....30 miles each direction from the top of an abandoned fire tower 12 miles down a sand path into the woods... love Pine trees! I actually went in hopes of finding the Jersey Devil, but alas, no luck!

Yours

Welcome Stalewiak! Our average lowest winter temp at night here is -4 C , usually stays around -2 though at night in January. It can fluctuate however. Nothing is set in stone.

OK...am I the only person who doesn't know what the Jersey Devil is? :help:

Doubt it's a hockey team.

Hi Stalewiak, I'm from the opposite side of North America but closer to you. My historical lowest winter temp is minus 37C. It's happened one 60 years ago. Since that time nothing serious has been happened here. There were minus 30 was registered a few times in my city of Almaty.Every winter low is around minus 20-24 C nevertheless the apricot trees start blooming at the very beginning of April. Nobody grows palms here. there is only one nut who does in Kazakhstan.Welcome to the PN. By the way, I had a chance visiting Poland in 2006. Very nice and friendly people, healthy and various plants everywhere.
