You know Barb...I am not sure what it is,,,,,I trashpicked it and have since split it into four smaller palms that have grown just as big. It is agreat speimen though. They seem to sell allot of them at Home Depot and Lowes big box stores here. Funny about the dogs, the older one in the picture, Bianca likes to stay in the formal parlor and lay around with all the antiques while the younger Doberman doesn't get off the couch in the more modern family room..I think he suffers from S.A.D. in the winter time....LOL

Kinda looks like a Butia (maybe eriospatha? not capitata!) to me, but I'm terrible with palm IDs as everyone knows.

Bianca and the young Doberman get along fine presumably.
Just showing their preferences with room/furniture choice. 😉

The Doberman probably misses the daily jogs...

Bianca is indeed queen of the castle: sometimes Titan the dobie will not even come down into the family room but sit on the steps and whimper iof she is in there before him. He never makes eye contact with her too...So funny to watch the dynamics play out with pets!!!

Yeah, Barb, it really was trashpicked. It is a beauty I must say, and gets so huge every year that I have split it a few times and given some away to people. I have a perfectly beautiful inverse triangle 7 ft. tall one on the spiral stair landing that reminds me of an upside down Christmas tree. May decorate that too...I got that at a supermarket down the shore last summer for like 20 bucks, It is perfectly shaped.....and has 3 new shoots coming out even inside for winter. Finally got pretty cold here, but still not like last year. No snow yet, and nights are in teh low 30s' and days in 40s or low 50's for the next week...So not terrible. Only three short months till spring! Woohoo! Cheers!!!

Thanks guys, yeah it is at least esthetically pleasing....and the neighbor's kids love it. They think it is for them. Although by this week it is looking pretty shabby, warm temps and a lot of rain in the past month have taken its toll...We ill have to revamp it after the new year....maybe some sort of ice creation...??? Mike great idea with the Christmas palm tree. We do the same. Why kill a growing tree just for two weeks of enjoyment and then throw it away. We need to preserve all the trees we have left on this planet. Great looking palm.
