John, that is one nice place you have. Those palms are going to look great when they get bigger. They look awsome now! 😀

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Very nice, John.

Allen

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Thanks Laaz just out of curiosity what is it about my location that would surprise you about my Washy`s condition? Thanks all for your comments.

John your zone 6b-7a ( -5 - + 5 F )would fry most washys every winter. Robustas have their leaves fried here in our 9a zone almost every winter. We hit a low of 24 F on one night this past winter & the Robustas leaves were all fried. Filiferas can take upper teens, but will fry there as well.

Laaz there seems to be some miscomuncation as to my Washy`s being outside the whole year. The pots were brought out of my garage/greenhouse March 3rd. They have endured -3c 27f pots frozen solid. The W.robusta had frond burn while my W. filifera unscathed. I would not attempt to plant these until 15gal size and exeptional protection used. They should enjoy our 30c 88f heat comming this weekend.

Beautiful, John.
Man, they've grown to great size! 😯

That location beside the house likely gives them an improved microclimate too.

Bet the neighbours are envious of your lush tropical setup.

About time we hit 30 C ...

Barb a couple of my neighbors have bought palms from me as well as some M. basjoo. I`m putting in some container palms at a local pub around their patio. Should be good for business as I will have my info on them.

Excellent idea to feature pics/testimonials from satisfied customers.
Can you post the pub pics?

Hopefully more folks in your neighbourhood will catch onto it.

Great job John!!! Too bad I'm not closer, I could take a few of those babys off your hands!! I also like that you are spreading the joy so to speak about palms. I have been giving some thought of a rent-a-palm, side business myself. I live in a college town and the students would love the spring break feel!!!!

Not the pot I was expecting........

Ahhhh... That would explain the great condition they are in.
