A few samples of palms around here at Las Palmas Norte in Lantzville.
Washingtonia robusta was the big let-down as it only pushed one new frond. I can't figure out why? All the others seemed fine and progressed normally.

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie,
the palms look great. What protection have you used on your CIDP and washy?
Your washie looks like it is in the shade, perhaps that is why you didn't get many fronds?

Hey Wes ... an unheated enclosure for both W. robusta and Phoenix canariensis. Basically it keeps the worst of winter off them. A canopy for Brahea edulis is used.
As for shade on the W. robusta, It's in a fair amount of sun for the most part. Come to think of it, many start in these conditions naturally until they're tall enough to poke their head in the sun.

Cheers, Barrie.

Hey Barrie...As usual..your palms looks great..My washy has pushed out a total of 3.5 spears here in Z6...last year I had a least 8 but .....we had nothing but cloud cover this year so maybe thats the reason...?

Normally I'd tend to agree with you however, this summer was quite good with plenty of days over 80°F From mid June until the end of September. Last year was rather dismal and the Washingtonia grew 5 or 6 fronds. There're guys in England growing them with a fair amount of success and they tend to get much more summer rain than we do. I should be satisfied with the fact it's still around.

Cheers, Barrie.
