Here are some pics of some of my potted palms outside for the rest of the season. There are also pics of some planted slightly damaged Trachy`s -15c 2f . I lost one needle palm has no chance it`s dead. The other two in the same enclosure with the Trachy for two years now are alive from offshoots of the main . The one Needle that I planted with the three Trachy`s last spring are demonstrating the same characteristics as the ones that lost their spears. The newest frond next to the spear is crisp and the spear looks OK. I will see if the same thing happens as last year when spear pull happened in June with the two other Needle palms. I think I will give some of my Sabal minor and Sabal louisiana a try near where I`m digging out the Needle palms. T. fortunei "RULE" they have endured the same environment and have survived beyond what my expectations were when I planted them along with the cold hardiest? Needle palm? Maybe I just got a bad cold hardy lineage of Needle palms?

It's too bad that you lost some of the needles.
The trachys surprise me at their toughness.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Thanks Allen. I wish I would have planted at least one Sabal to use as a test with the others.

Sorry for the Needle demise, John.
I thought Needles were hardier than Sabal (or maybe I've got it backwards).
Agree that Trachies RULE.
Your plants look great.
My back is sore just looking at all that digging ahead of you... 😆
Now for a repeat of the recent warm temps...

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Thanks Barb. I`ve already stocked up on back pain medicine for the digging ahead. Bring on the Okanagan HEAT.
