This is likely the tallest palm on residential property in Nanaimo (Vancouver Island). Taller older ones exist in public park plantings, maybe the subject of future postings.
Walter planted this palm in 1972 and was last measured at 32' a few years ago. I believe it to be about 35' presently.

Cheers, Barrie.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

When I get a chance, I'll photograph some of the large palms downtown in Georgia park.
I'm currently planting 9 or 10 palms for a guy in the neighborhood. He's on a corner lot and high profile for the area.

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie Trachy`s look great as mature trees. Now that so many people are planting them we should see alot more palms growing beyond roof level and more . How much taller do you think it will get considering it`s already 36 years old?

I've seen some in Tacoma that where in excess of 40', and that was back in 1999. Those where planted in 1949.

Cheers, Barrie.
