Cold morning, killing some time, so I decided to post a few new pictures of my palms taken this morning. My camera quit working over month ago, turned it on this morning, and it decided it was going to work today. Not a great camera and even worse photgrapher, but heres about the best I could do.

first up is a small Trachycarpus Fortunei I put in a bonsai container. Its throwing a new frond, so it's gotta like being bonsaied.

Next up is a Dypsis Decaryi , Triangle Palm, that had a great summer outside. It grew very fast and put on some good size. Its around 4 foot tall and the trunk is getting big. A couple of the fronds on this thing are 4 foot long.

Here is my Wodyetia Bifurcata, Foxtail palm. It has a couple of small Livistona Chinensis in front of it. I rigged up an 8' bamboo pole, tied it discreetly to the trunk and then put 2 plant lights on top. A new frond is emerging.

Kent, what a good idea with the foxtail pole lights. Beautiful Wodie.

Your bonsai trachy is well on its way to what I did to mine...for 32 years, finally ending up in a big plastic garbage can.
Now planted outside in the palm hut.

How do you keep your Triangle's leaves from showing summer sunburn? Total summer shade?
My 3 Triangles all have sunburned segments from even an hour in morning sun.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

Barb - triangle is in sun during summer, maybe 4 hours of afternoon sun. never had any problem with burning. I do have abottle palm that has fried the last 2 years in minimal sun. I moved it completely out of sun last july, it threw a couple of new fronds that look great and maybe next year I can cut off the last of the burned , nasty curled up fronds.

Don - my lighting for my foxtail is not worth $29.99. If Billy Mays were still alive, he could proababy sell the hell out of it. I had to do something for overhead lighting and this was the best thing I could come up with that my wife could live with. Next year I may have a couple of can lights installed in the ceiling above the palm. That ceiling is 10' , so it may be able to hold that palm , with others, for many more years.
