Here's a couple of late winter shots of some of my palms starting to push new growth.

Old reliable, Trachycarpus fortunei

One with fully circular leaflets.

New growth on Butia capitata

Emerging fronds on Phoenix canariensis

Finally, Chamaerops humilis

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie apparently somebody is a show off. Nice lookin' stuff this time of year. What is your average daily high and low this time of year?

Kent in Kansas
where it's cold in winter (always)
and hot in summer (usually)

Somebody? ... Hey, the palms speak for themselves. Nothin' to do with me. 😆
"Average" temps are a bit misleading. We can get mild spells and then chilly periods during this transitional late winter phase.

PALMETTOMAN ... did you have time to hook up with Laaz (Todd) while in Charleston?

Cheers, Barrie.

They are looking good Barry.

I still have not taken the cover off of mine.

Allen

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Barrie..I did not hook up with Todd...I just popped down to escape hibernation.

Next time is May so I'll check him out...I plan on having a stab at citrus now that i have a a few greenhouse/coldhouses..

By the way, one of my coldhouse trachies got fried because the heat went out...the leaves have dried out at the mid portion on at least three quarters of the fronds...the leaves are foldedtigreen..the spear is intact..I'll post tomorrow..i need some good news.. its around 4 feet..

Hey PALMETTOMAN. Trachys will sprout without much heat at all, but the Butia need to be around 85 - 90F for best germination. You want to clean the orange flesh off before germinating.

Hey Palmettoman. You can plant them as they are. Sometimes you will get germination from all three eyes. If you try to break them open you will probably destroy them.

Barrie, great pics, great specimens.
They simply shook off damage from December's weather. 😀

Well Barb, they where not damaged. Had they been damaged, it would still be evident as not enough new growth has taken place so far. My Acacia trees are a different matter. 🙁

Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie,
Your CIDP was outside ? 😯

I can understand the Trachy, Butia and Chamaerops surviving any damage, but the CIDP? ... wow!
